Job Description

About the Role
The Friends’ School is seeking an experienced and passionate educator to take on the role of Learning Leader – Science. This is a key leadership opportunity within the Senior School, responsible for shaping and supporting science teaching and learning across Years 9–12.

The Learning Leader – Science will foster a culture of academic excellence, collaboration, innovation, and student engagement. You will provide educational leadership to the Science Faculty, mentor staff, manage resources, and contribute to curriculum development across the Australian Curriculum (Years 7–10), TCE, IB, and VET pathways.
 

Key Focus Areas

  • Lead a team of science educators to deliver high-quality teaching and learning experiences in alignment with curriculum frameworks and the School’s Quaker values
  • Guide curriculum development, innovation, and assessment in Years 9–12 across all science disciplines
  • Coach and mentor colleagues, supporting their professional growth and performance through collaboration and feedback
  • Maintain oversight of staff wellbeing, resource management, and the safe use of laboratory facilities
  • Support student wellbeing and academic progress through effective communication with staff, families, and school leaders
  • Coordinate science enrichment programs and represent the School in relevant competitions and events

Essential Qualifications

  • Current registration with the Teachers Registration Board of Tasmania (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Science and Education
  • Current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration (employment category)
  • Current National Police Check.
